About Com/Rad Inc. Com/Rad Inc. was established in 1969 by Edmund V. Folta Jr., the current President and CEO. While in the course
of study of Electrical Engineering at the age 18 Ed Folta was employed by the late
Ero Erickson who owned and operated E-Lectronics Co., in Chicago. Mr. Folta,
realized Erickson had a strong influence on him and his
determination to continue in the business. Ero Erickson ( a well known author
and radio pioneer, early NABER member and officer, Illinois State Police Radio, Radio Club of
America, QCWA - Amateur Radio W9HPJ ) who operated E-Lectronics Co., Inc. since the early
'50's, emphasized the need for quality customer service by an independent
supplier. Folta has continued in this philosophy, as an independent
communications contractor. Com/Rad became incorporated under the laws of the State of
Illinois in 1977. For over 37 years Folta and Com/Rad has focused on service and
development of mobile communication systems in Northeastern Illinois, sites across
the United States and International Markets.
Com/Rad's business philosophy is to deliver a
quality job at a fair price. We, at Com/Rad, stress good customer relations and customer
service. Our mission is to provide a specialized wireless service segment to those
businesses and institutions requiring this type of operation. Com/Rad's main headquarters and service facility is located in Des Plaines, Illinois, 4 miles from O'Hare International Airport (ORD) near Chicago, IL. USA. Our location is strategic to all major suppliers and distribution channels. Com/Rad has many business facets including system designer, dealer, distributor, exporter and service center. We offer service by a FCC licensed technical staff. Our scope of product lines includes: Antenex, Kenwood, Midland, Maxon, Radiall Larsen, EF Johnson, ICOM, Sigtronics,Tekk, IDA, Ritron, Otto Engineering, Telex, Mobile Knowledge/SiGEM/GMSI/Gandalf and Motorola products. We offer full warranty service on most of the above mentioned equipment lines. Com/Rad offers complete 2-way commercial radio services. These include In-Plant, Simplex, SCADA, Repeater, UHF and VHF Trunking, Voice and Data, CAD, PCS and GPRS / GSM Cellular equipment, Paging and related services. We now offer a T1 (transport) microwave product. One of our new products supports Infra Red photography for mobile security applications. Com/Rad Inc., in association with BitsPoint Inc., has introduced to the Chicago market a Credit Card Clearing and GPS for taxi and other services utilizing internet and private radio network technology. This provides a very cost effective way to streamline your mobile business. We are licensed to operate mobile relay stations and offer
repeater service to support customers system requirements. We offer radio
spectrum leasing and special applications fulfillment. If you need to bring in
Internet ( bandwidth ) to rural and remote locations we can do that also! In today's world of the "Information Superhighway" radio and wireless communications technology are undergoing radical change. Com/Rad endeavors to keep pace with these changes to effectively serve the marketplace. As a result our staff is required to stay abreast of these regulatory and technological changes which impact our clients and customers. We are constantly streamlining our service programs and methodologies to deliver better end product to you the Customer Some of our current projects include mobile data and trunking system development. Presently we are offering full service to Mobile Knowledge ( formerly SiGEM, GMSI or Gandalf ) mobile data equipment on a mail in basis as well as local drive-in. We work with many OEM companies, assisting them in the development, implementation and installation of their respective concepts and products. These include Mobile Knowledge (a.k.a. SiGEM, GMSI or Gandalf ), DiNet (Specializing in the Ready-Mix Delivery Business) and in-house paging systems.
