Com/Rad Inc. has been working with E. F. Johnson Company since 1972.
Ed Folta*, the owner and president of Com/Rad has been involved
with Johson ever since their introduction of 2-way radio in the commercial market circa
1964. With their Business / Industrial AM radio line, which included low band business
radios and accessories Johnson led the way for the development of the low-end efficiency
lines we see today. ( Footnote - In the 1960's Ed was employed by Ero Erickson,
E-Lectronics Co., Inc, who pioneered E. F. Johnson's market in Chicago ). We still
have many of the remnants of this era in our possession such as 303s, 202s, 215s, Tone
Alerts, 106 and 204 portables etc. We still have some parts available for these
items and have actively supplied people interested in the restoration of some of these
products.
Since that time Johnson has grown in sophistication. They have introduced an
affordable line of FM radio and have evolved the product line to include such things as
LTR™ (Logic Trunked Radio) unique data acquisition systems, Multi-Net™ and
many others. Today product in the 150 through the 900 Mhz range is available to meet the
most demanding requirements.
Over the years Johnson has been a mainstay in our product line-up. We have installed
systems in Taxicabs, School Bus Systems, Trucking Operations, and many others. Johnson's
dedication to perfection of the product and customer service has brought their name to the
forefront throughout the last two decades in both the domestic and international market.
*Ed Folta is claimed to be a historian on the E F Johnson Co and their equipment line. He welcomes all inquiries, questions, nostalgic diatribes, or whatever on this subject!
